New Michigan law makes it illegal for men to leave pregnant women
So, essentially, if you're in a relationship with a pregnant woman, you can't leave her, because that would be considered trying to coerce her into having an abortion. If she's physically abusive, or if you think the kid's not yours, or if you've had a vasectomy and know the kid's not yours, you're still on the hook.

Once again we have politicions trying to chip away at people's rights.
The article indicates almost as an aside that the hypothetical man is liable only "if it is determined that the man is doing these things to try to pressure the woman to terminate her pregnancy."
This seems to me like the most crucial element, and I wish the article had said more about the procedural requirements for bringing such a claim.
Also, is it just me, or is the section I've excerpted below a little offensive?
"There are many reasons why a man might be unhappy over his wife's or girlfriend's pregnancy, and consider ending his relationship with her. [...] He may feel he was deceived into the pregnancy. She may lash out at him during her pregnancy-related mood swings, and he may take offense."
Hmmmmm. Has anyone out there in Michigan-land ever heard of the Laci Peterson case where the husband was convicted of offing his pregnant wife?
Much media attention was squandered on this horrific case.
Perhaps Mr. Peterson was having sympathy pains of the post-partum variety?
Why would the courts give more ammo to the state of misogyny?
